Introducing Myself

My name is Isa Bogart (he/she), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois. In my work, I support adults, couples and relationship systems, and groups as they tend to and navigate emotional pain with compassion, authenticity, and a touch of humor.
I strive to weave anti-colonial and abolitionist values throughout both my life and my work. My lived experiences as a white, neurodivergent, queer, and trans trauma survivor inform my commitment to work that is socially just, equitable, and rooted in humility. I believe that the personal is political, and that truly supportive therapeutic work must be rooted in commitments to anti-oppression and liberation, not only in theory but in daily practice.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, cuddling my two black cats, cooking delicious meals, and listening to multiple audiobooks at once. I am a lover of horror movies, reality TV, tarot, astrology, and tattoos. I welcome you bringing your own interests into our therapy space!
What concerns do I commonly work with?
Trauma, Survival, & Nervous System Stress
I work with presentations related to complex and developmental trauma, including chronic anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, shutdown, and difficulty feeling safe in the body or in relationships. These concerns often stem from long-term stress, relational trauma, or early experiences that shaped survival patterns.
Neurodivergence, Masking, & Sense of Self
I work with neurodivergent individuals, including autistic and ADHD clients, around issues such as burnout, masking, sensory overwhelm, emotional regulation, identity development, and navigating systems not designed for neurodivergent ways of thinking and relating. This work centers understanding and accommodation rather than pathologizing difference.
Attachment Injuries & Relational Patterns
I work with issues related to attachment and relationships, including fear of closeness, people-pleasing, avoidance, conflict cycles, boundary difficulties, and challenges with trust or intimacy. Many clients come in wanting to understand recurring relational dynamics and develop more secure, aligned ways of connecting.
LGBTQIA2s+ & Gender-Related Concerns
I work with LGBTQ+ clients, with particular focus on trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people. Common presentations include gender exploration, dysphoria, minority stress, internalized shame, medical or systemic trauma, and the emotional impacts of navigating a cisnormative and transphobic world. When clinically appropriate, this may also include support with gender-affirming care documentation as part of therapy.
Family & Intergenerational Wounds
I work with concerns rooted in family dynamics and intergenerational patterns, including emotional neglect, enmeshment, parentification, estrangement, loyalty conflicts, and unresolved grief related to family relationships. Clients often seek support in making sense of their histories and building boundaries that support present-day wellbeing.
Sexuality, Desire, & Embodiment
I work with clients exploring sexuality, desire, embodiment, and the stories we carry about our bodies and experiences. This includes support around sexual trauma, desire differences, shame, and the influence of cultural or religious sexual narratives. This work centers curiosity, consent, and compassion, helping folks reconnect with their bodies and live in ways that feel more grounded, aligned, and authentic.
What is therapy like with me?

Therapy with me is collaborative, paced, and grounded in deep respect for your lived experiences. I proudly show up as my authentic, human self, not a blank slate. You don’t have to perform, over-explain, or “do therapy right” here. We start by getting curious about what’s bringing you in now, while also zooming out to notice the bigger patterns, histories, and contexts that shape how you cope, relate, and move through the world.
Our work balances insight with attention to the nervous system and the body, so change isn’t just something you understand, but something you can actually feel over time. I work flexibly and integratively rather than following a rigid formula or one-size-fits-all approach. Whether we’re working individually, in a group, or relationally, the work can shift and evolve as you do. Throughout the process, I will check in about pace, goals, and what’s actually helpful for you and your care. I value honesty, consent, and collaboration, and aim to create a space that feels grounded, affirming, and responsive to your needs and our shared investment in your wellbeing and growth.
Sessions may include talking things through, tracking bodily sensations, working with different parts of yourself, exploring relational dynamics, or making meaning of your story as it unfolds. We might also work with metaphor, symbolism, humor, and creative expression – sometimes a well-placed joke, image, or gesture can open something up in ways words alone can’t. You’re welcome to make therapy your own by bringing in art, movement, writing, astrology, tarot, or other practices that help you reflect, regulate, and feel more connected to yourself.
